Capital Outflows From Russia Hit Levels Not Seen Since ’08

Russia is eager to become a global counterbalance to the west both militarily and economically. However their provocative actions in the region, especially in the Ukraine has lead to capital net outflows, not seen since the beginning of the 2008 recession.  Below is a graph illustrating the point. As you can see, capital flowing into Russia went into negative territory in Q2, falling far below competing nations like Turkey and Poland:

T.W.’s Tuesday Tidbit: In 1620 John Howland Went Overboard On The Mayflower. So Why Is this Important?

Every Tuesday, KellenPROJECTS Project Coordinator T.W. Arrighi shares a unique tidbit regarding U.S. History. Here is today’s tidbit:

In October of 1620, Mayflower passenger John Howland was thrown overboard during a major storm. At the time, almost half the passengers had died in the cold, unfamiliar and brutal New England seas. But by the grace of God, Howland grabbed hold of a topsail halyard trailing the boat and was pulled to safety. Why is this important? Among his descendants are Presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, Joseph Smith Jr. (Founder of the Mormon Church), Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Alec & Stephen Baldwin, and most importantly…former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin
